Stress Management

_

Stress occurs when an event triggers a stress response, which is often referred to as the fight or flight response. There are many ways that the body will try to bring itself back into balance, and different people respond differently to the same stress stimuli. Stressors can be anything from work, finances, relationships, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, lack of nutrients, and exposure to environmental toxins.

Stress plays a big part in the way we live our modern lives and the truth of the matter is, it’s probably always going to be there. The trick though is learning how to manage your stress without causing more stress in the process!

How does an Integrative approach Stress Management work?

An integrative approach uses a combination of dietary changes, yoga, acupuncture, counselling and other non-pharmacological modalities to support the body and help calm down stress levels, leaving you feeling energized and back in control. Some of the common signs and symptoms include:

  • Skin conditions/Acne flair up.
  • Food cravings – particularly for sugar (chocolate, biscuits, cake), salt (chips, crackers, pizza), fatty foods (fried foods, cheese) or ‘drugs’ (eg: alcohol, cigarettes, coffee/caffeine).
